What is LIC Bima Platinum Eligibility

Here are the detail information regarding the Eligibility of this Plan. The entry age depends on the Premium Paying Term selected.

Premium Paying TermMinimum Entry AgeMaximum Entry Age
7 years 11 years 55 years
10 years 8 years 55 years
12 years 6 years 53 years
15 years 3 years 50 years
18 years 30 days 47 years

The maximum entry age shown above is based on the normal channel and is subject to the maximum maturity age. For policies procured through POSP-LI/CPSC-SPV, different age restrictions apply.

The minimum age at maturity is 28 years, while the maximum age at maturity is 75 years for the regular channel. For POSP-LI/CPSC-SPV policies, the maximum maturity age is 65 years.

LIC Bima Platinum Policy Term

The policy term depends on the selected Premium Paying Term.

Premium Paying TermMinimum Entry AgeMaximum Entry Age
7 years17years40 years
10 years20 years40 years
12 years22 years40 years
15 years25 years40 years
18 years28 days40 years

The maximum policy term is also subject to the maximum maturity age of 75 years. For POSP-LI/CPSC-SPV policies, the maximum policy term is 20 years, subject to the 65-year maximum maturity age.

The Pay-out Period = Policy Term − Premium Paying Term.

For example, if the Premium Paying Term is 10 years and the Policy Term is 20 years:

Pay-out Period = 20 − 10 = 10 years

This is important because the Regular Income Benefit is payable during the payout period.

LIC Bima Platinum Guaranteed Addition

Guaranteed Addition is one of the most important parts of this plan.

For an in-force policy, Guaranteed Additions accrue at the rate of ₹70 per ₹1,000 of Total Annualized Premium in respect of premiums paid during the Premium Paying Term. No further Guaranteed Addition accrues after the Premium Paying Term.

Basic Guaranteed Addition Formula

The LIC plan defines the Guaranteed Addition applicable in a policy year as:

Guaranteed Addition = Applicable Total Annualized Premium × Applicable Rate of Guaranteed Addition ÷ 1,000

At the basic rate:

Rate = ₹70 per ₹1,000

Therefore, if the applicable Total Annualized Premium is ₹1,00,000:

Guaranteed Addition = ₹1,00,000 × 70 ÷ 1,000

= ₹7,000

The actual calculation can be affected by applicable incentives.

The LIC plan also specifies that the Total Annualized Premium in respect of premiums paid is determined using the annualized premium, number of instalment premiums paid and premium payment frequency. The frequency is 1 for yearly, 2 for half-yearly, 4 for quarterly and 12 for monthly payments.

Are Guaranteed Additions payable forever?

No.

Guaranteed Additions accrue during the Premium Paying Term. Once the Premium Paying Term ends, no further Guaranteed Additions accrue.

LIC Bima Platinum Regular Income Benefit

The Regular Income Benefit is designed to provide recurring income after the Premium Paying Term.Under an in-force policy, if the Life Assured survives to the end of the Premium Paying Term, the Regular Income Benefit is equal to 10% of the Basic Sum Assured.

The first payment is made at the end of the Premium Paying Term. After that, the benefit is payable at the end of each subsequent policy year during the payout period, subject to survival and the policy conditions.

Regular Income Formula
Regular Income Benefit = 10% × Basic Sum Assured

For example, if:
Basic Sum Assured = ₹10,00,000
then:
Regular Income Benefit = 10% × ₹10,00,000
= ₹1,00,000 per year

The number of payments depends on the payout period.
Here is Example
Suppose:
Basic Sum Assured = ₹10 lakh
Premium Paying Term = 10 years
Policy Term = 20 years

The payout period is:

20 − 10 = 10 years
Annual Regular Income Benefit:
10% × ₹10 lakh = ₹1 lakh

Therefore, subject to survival and the policy conditions, the Regular Income Benefit would be ₹1 lakh for the applicable payout period.

LIC Bima Platinum Booster Income Benefit

The Booster Income Benefit is a larger one-time income benefit payable on survival to a specified policy anniversary.

The benefit is equal to 70% of the Basic Sum Assured. The policy anniversary depends on the selected Premium Paying Term.

Premium Paying TermBooster Benefit Payable
7 years 12th policy anniversary
10 years 15th policy anniversary
12 years 17th policy anniversary
15 years 20th policy anniversary
18 years23rd policy anniversary

Booster Income Formula

Booster Income Benefit = 70% × Basic Sum Assured
For example, with a Basic Sum Assured of ₹10 lakh:
70% × ₹10,00,000 = ₹7,00,000

So the Booster Income Benefit would be ₹7 lakh, subject to the policy remaining in force and the Life Assured surviving to the specified policy anniversary.

LIC Bima Platinum Maturity Benefit

The maturity benefit is another important part of the policy.

If the Life Assured survives until the stipulated Date of Maturity and the policy is in force, LIC pays the Sum Assured on Maturity together with accrued Guaranteed Additions.

The LIC plan defines the Sum Assured on Maturity as the Basic Sum Assured.
Therefore:
Maturity Benefit = Basic Sum Assured + Accrued Guaranteed Additions

For example, if:
Basic Sum Assured = ₹10,00,000
Accrued Guaranteed Additions = ₹X

then:
Maturity Benefit = ₹10,00,000 + ₹X
The actual Guaranteed Addition depends on the premium, Premium Paying Term, premiums paid and applicable rate/incentives.

LIC Bima Platinum Death Benefit

The policy also provides life insurance protection.

If the Life Assured dies during the policy term after commencement of risk and before maturity, while the policy is in force, the Death Benefit is payable.
The Sum Assured on Death is defined as the higher of: 11 × Annualized Premium

or

Basic Sum Assured
The Death Benefit also includes accrued Guaranteed Additions for the in-force policy. It will not be less than 105% of the Total Premiums Paid up to the date of death and, in any case, will not be less than the surrender value calculated on the date of death.

Example
Suppose:
Annualized Premium = ₹1,00,000
Basic Sum Assured = ₹10,00,000

Then:

11 × Annualized Premium = 11 × ₹1,00,000
= ₹11,00,000

Since ₹11 lakh is higher than ₹10 lakh, the applicable Sum Assured on Death would be ₹11 lakh, before adding the applicable accrued Guaranteed Additions and considering the other policy conditions.

LIC Bima Platinum Income Deferral Option

An interesting feature of the plan is the option to defer the Regular Income Benefit and/or Booster Income Benefit.

Under this plan , the policyholder can defer future income benefits under an in-force or paid-up policy by submitting a written request at least three months before the relevant due date. The option is available only when there is no outstanding policy loan.

Deferred benefits accumulate at an applicable rate.

For benefits falling due during the period from 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2027, the applicable annual effective accumulation rate stated in the brochure is 5.78% p.a. effective. The rate for each deferred benefit is fixed for its entire accumulation period.

The policyholder can later request withdrawal of the entire accumulated Regular Income Benefit and/or Booster Income Benefit before maturity, subject to the policy conditions.

LIC Bima Platinum Settlement Option

The plan also provides a Settlement Option for the Maturity Benefit.

Instead of taking the maturity amount as one lump sum, the policyholder can choose to receive it in instalments over 5, 10 or 15 years.

The instalments can be received monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly. The minimum instalment amounts specified in the brochure are:

Mode Minimum Instalment
Monthly ₹5,000
Quarterly₹15,000
Half-Yearly ₹25,000
Yearly ₹50,000

If the net claim amount is insufficient to provide the selected minimum instalment, the amount is paid as a lump sum.

For settlement options commencing between 1 May 2026 and 30 April 2027, the interest rate used to calculate the instalment amount is stated as 5.11% p.a. effective.

LIC Bima Platinum Death Benefit in Instalments

The Death Benefit can also be received in instalments instead of a lump sum.

The policyholder or Life Assured can choose a payment period of:
5 years
10 years
15 years

The instalments can be paid monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly, subject to the minimum instalment amounts specified in the policy document.

This feature can help a nominee receive the claim proceeds as a regular income rather than receiving the entire amount at once.

LIC Bima Platinum Premium Payment Modes

Premiums can be paid regularly using the following modes:

  • Yearly
  • Half-yearly
  • Quarterly
  • Monthly through e-NACH/NACH
  • Salary Savings Scheme, where applicable

The LIC plan specifically provides these premium payment modes for the plan.
The exact premium depends on the selected policy details.
Therefore, an online LIC Bima Platinum Calculator should ask for the age, Basic Sum Assured, Premium Paying Term, Policy Term and premium mode before producing an estimate.

LIC Bima Platinum Surrender Value

A policyholder may surrender the policy subject to the applicable policy conditions.

The LIC plan provides Guaranteed Surrender Value and Special Surrender Value provisions. The Special Surrender Value becomes payable after completion of the first policy year, provided one full year's premium has been received. The SSV is reviewed annually according to applicable IRDAI requirements.

The surrender value of accrued Guaranteed Additions is also considered in the Guaranteed Surrender Value calculation. The brochure states that accrued Guaranteed Additions include the additions for completed policy years and the proportionate addition for completed months in the policy year in which the policy is surrendered.

Once the surrender value is paid, the policy terminates and further benefits are not payable.

LIC Bima Platinum Policy Loan

A policy loan is available subject to the surrender value and policy conditions.

The loan can be taken after completion of the first policy year, provided one full year's premium has been paid.
During the Premium Paying Term, the maximum loan percentage of surrender value is:

Policy Status Years'Before 2 Full Years' PremiumsAfter 2 Full Premiums
In-force 50% 75%
Paid-up 40% 65%

After the Premium Paying Term, the permissible loan amount is subject to additional conditions and is capped at 65% of surrender value under the stated formula.

For loans sanctioned during 1 May 2026 to 30 April 2027, the applicable loan interest rate stated in the LIC brochure is 9.50% p.a., compounded half-yearly, for the entire loan term. The basis for determining the rate is subject to change.

LIC Bima Platinum Tax Benefits and GST

Applicable statutory taxes on the premium are payable separately according to prevailing tax laws.

The LIC states that applicable taxes are collected over and above the premium and are not considered for calculating benefits under the plan. For income-tax implications on premiums and benefits, policyholders are advised to consult a tax professional.

Therefore, the LIC Bima Platinum Calculator should ideally display the base premium and applicable taxes separately rather than treating tax as part of the benefit calculation.

LIC Bima Platinum Suicide Exclusion

The LIC Plan contains a specific suicide exclusion.

If the Life Assured dies due to suicide within 12 months from commencement of risk or revival, as applicable, the nominee or beneficiary is entitled to 80% of the Total Premiums Paid or the surrender value available on the date of death, whichever is higher, subject to the conditions mentioned in the policy document.

The complete policy terms should be reviewed for all exclusions and conditions.

Limitations to Consider for LIC Bima Platinum Plan

LIC Bima Platinum is not necessarily suitable for every investor.

You should consider:

  • Premium commitment over the selected Premium Paying Term
  • Long policy duration
  • Lower liquidity compared with ordinary savings accounts
  • Surrender value rules
  • Loan interest if borrowing against the policy
  • Inflation's impact on future benefits
  • Opportunity cost compared with other investment products
  • The difference between insurance protection and pure investment returns

A guaranteed maturity amount should not automatically be considered a high-return investment. Compare the policy's benefits, protection and effective return with alternatives before making a decision.

Who Should Consider LIC Bima Platinum?

The plan may be worth evaluating for people who want a combination of:

  • Life insurance protection
  • Guaranteed savings
  • Periodic income
  • A fixed maturity benefit
  • Long-term financial planning
  • A non-market-linked product

It may appeal particularly to someone who prefers predictable policy benefits over market-linked returns.

However, the right choice depends on individual financial goals, existing insurance coverage, income, expenses, investment horizon and risk tolerance.

For the exact premium and benefits, always verify the latest LIC quotation, benefit illustration and policy document.

What is the Guaranteed Addition Rate?

Under LIC Bima Platinum Plan 770, the basic Guaranteed Addition (GA) rate is ₹70 per ₹1,000 of Total Annualized Premium for premiums paid during the Premium Paying Term. In simple terms, this means the applicable Guaranteed Addition is calculated based on the annualized premium and the applicable GA rate.
For example, if the Total Annualized Premium is ₹1,00,000, the basic GA would be ₹7,000 per year (₹1,00,000 ÷ ₹1,000 × ₹70). The plan may also provide additional Guaranteed Addition rates under specified incentives, such as online purchase and higher Basic Sum Assured. The ₹70 per ₹1,000 rate should not be interpreted as a 7% annual investment return.

What is the Regular Income Benefit?

The Regular Income Benefit is 10% of Basic Sum Assured and starts at the end of the Premium Paying Term, subject to survival and policy conditions.

What is the Booster Income Benefit?

The Booster Income Benefit is 70% of Basic Sum Assured and is payable on a specified policy anniversary depending on the Premium Paying Term.

What is the minimum Basic Sum Assured?

The minimum Basic Sum Assured under LIC Bima Platinum Plan 770 is ₹3,00,000 (₹3 lakh). The Basic Sum Assured can be selected in multiples of ₹10,000, subject to LIC’s applicable underwriting rules and policy conditions.
For example, you can choose a Basic Sum Assured of ₹3 lakh, ₹5 lakh, ₹10 lakh, ₹15 lakh or more, depending on your eligibility. The Basic Sum Assured also affects benefits such as the Regular Income Benefit and Booster Income Benefit.

Can I take a loan against LIC Bima Platinum?

Yes, a policy loan facility is available under LIC Bima Platinum Plan 770, subject to the policy acquiring the required surrender value and the applicable terms and conditions. The amount of loan available and the interest charged will depend on LIC's rules applicable at the time of taking the loan.
If you are considering a loan against your policy, check the latest LIC policy document for the applicable loan eligibility, maximum loan amount, interest rate and repayment conditions before applying.

Can maturity benefit be received in instalments?

Yes. The Settlement Option allows the maturity benefit to be received in instalments over 5, 10 or 15 years, subject to the policy condition

Final Verdict

The LIC Bima Platinum Plan 770 Calculator 2026 is useful for understanding the different components of this long-term savings and protection plan.

The policy combines Guaranteed Additions, 10% Regular Income Benefit, a 70% Booster Income Benefit and a maturity benefit equal to the Basic Sum Assured plus accrued Guaranteed Additions, subject to the applicable policy conditions.

Its biggest advantage is the combination of guaranteed benefits and multiple Premium Paying Term choices. At the same time, the policy requires a long-term premium commitment, so prospective buyers should understand the surrender, paid-up, loan and income-deferral rules before purchasing.

Use the calculator to estimate your figures, but treat the result as a planning tool. The final premium and benefits should always be verified against the official LIC policy illustration and policy document.
